The seventh season of the series features 32 of the nation’s best chefs battling it out for glory in the kitchen. This season includes the series’ biggest surprise ever: the top-seeded chefs in each division will be four of the most powerful competitors to ever appear on the show, but their identities will be kept a secret until the moment that they step into the arena.
After eight weeks and 31 head-to-head battles, controlled by the Randomizer, one talented chef will take home the $150,000 grand prize and the Tournament of Champions belt. In addition, eight winners from the qualifier tournament will compete, including Aarti Sequeira, Katsuji Tanabe, Kenny Gilbert, Dan Jacobs, Giuseppe Tentori, Ashleigh Shanti, Viet Pham, and Stephanie Izard.
Tournament of Champions season 3 winner Tiffani Faison and Justin Warner will act as sideline reporters, while Hunter Fieri will give backstage access to viewers, and Simon Majumdar will serve as the Judges’ Correspondent, getting explanations about why the dishes won or lost the rounds.
All of the other previous winners, including Antonia Lofaso (season 6), Maneet Chauhan (seasons 2 and 5), Mei Lin (season 4), and Brooke Williamson (season 1) will be judges, along with Alex Guarnaschelli, Cat Cora, Curtis Stone, David Chang, Dominique Crenn, Geoffrey Zakarian, Hubert Keller, Judy Joo, Ken Oringer, Marcus Samuelsson, Michelle Bernstein, Nancy Silverton, Rocco DiSpirito, Scott Conant, and Susan Feniger.
The Tournament of Champions finale airs on Sunday, April 19 at 8 p.m. ET.
Flavortown Food Fight
A Food Network press release announced the new series, Flavortown Food Fight, premiering on Wednesday, March 4 at 9 p.m. ET. In this new multi-round competition show, the legendary Flavortown will finally be seen, with host Guy Fieri, AKA the Mayor of Flavortown, welcoming three chefs to the game. They’ll have the opportunity to prove themselves in order to win advantages.
According to the press release, “Competitors will choose their own adventure as they compete in authentic food establishments ranging from street food carts to neighborhood spots to fast casual eateries and the finest fine dining restaurants in the world.” The restaurant names in Flavortown will be inspired by Guy’s life, and will put the contestants to the test in order to win up to $20,000 in prize money. The winner of each episode will also return to defend their title against two new chefs the following week, with no limit to how many times they can win.
Each episode will begin with a skills challenge, followed by two cooking rounds in which the competitors will earn a “paycheck.” However, only the final winner will take home the money. As the mayor of Flavortown, Guy will declare each episode’s theme, while Hunter Fieri will announce the menu for some of the cooking challenges. The contestants’ food will be judged by two guest judges as Flavortown Food Fight brings Flavortown to life.
