Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola hits out at critics saying money wins titles (Video)

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola obviously still feels aggrieved because a lot of people believe his employers spending a lot of money in the transfer market and on player wages and bonuses has played a major role in him leading his team to six Premier League titles.

To be fair, other clubs have spent a lot – Chelsea, Manchester United – in recent years and haven’t won the title. To put the success of Manchester City under Guardiola’s leadership down strictly to money being spent obviously doesn’t make much sense, or to dispute Guardiola’s place among the greatest managers in the world today.

On the other hand, for all the aggravation the Catalan tactician feels, having a lot of money to spend does help, doesn’t it?

It should also be said that with what he said here, Guardiola did not seem to be having a go at Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta or Liverpool’s Arne Slot, but rather at the people dismissing the quality of his work simply because he spent a lot of money along the way.
