Manchester United are reportedly keen on re-signing Everton midfielder James Garner on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Garner was sold to the Toffees a few years ago and he has since been an undisputed starter for the Merseyside outfit in the Premier League.
He has made immense progress under different managers and he is presently one of the best-performing defensive midfielders in the division.
United have been monitoring his development at the Toffees and they are now exploring a free transfer when his contract expires next summer.
Everton, on the other hand, are keen on prolonging his stay with a new long-term deal, but there is a good possibility that he could move on.
Garner has been in a relegation battle with the Toffees for the past few years, and he may have ambitions of winning silverware in his career.
A return to the Red Devils would provide that opportunity. He may not be a regular starter, but should get valuable playing time in rotation.
