Manchester United are looking to replace Joshua Zirkzee with Mateo Retegui, according to Spanish website Fichajes.
Zirkzee has endured a difficult career with the Red Devils and he is now contemplating a new challenge away from Old Trafford.
The Dutchman risks missing out on the World Cup squad, and he is desperate for playing time to boost his selection prospects.
Hence, he could be on the move in January and reports claim that United could seek to replace him with Retegui in January.
Retegui netted an impressive 27 goals for Atalanta in the previous campaign and he ended up moving to Saudi last summer.
The 26-year-old has scored three goals for Al-Qadsiah thus far, but he could be tempted to move to the Premier League this winter.
Al-Qadsiah paid around €65 million for his services, and United may need to offer close to that figure to convince them to sell.
United could recoup part of the fee from Zirkzee’s exit. Como are reportedly prepared to negotiate a permanent move.
