Zirkzee set for Man Utd stay

Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee is poised to stay with the Red Devils for the campaign after AS Roma’s decision to land Aston Villa striker Donyell Malen this month.

Zirkzee was a top target for the Giallorossi earlier this winter and it was widely reported that personal terms were agreed with the Dutchman.

Talks were also underway with the Red Devils over a loan deal with an obligation to buy, but the proposed deal did not materialise in the end.

With Ruben Amorim‘s managerial exit, United have made it clear that they won’t entertain any player departures until the end of the campaign.

Roma were made aware of the decision, and they have gone on to sign Malen on loan with an obligation to buy for £25 million next summer.

The Giallorossi have agreed a similar package to land 18-year-old Robinio Vaz from Marseille, and are unlikely to bolster their attack any further.

Zirkzee may have to wait until the summer to pursue a new challenge.
