Manchester United are ready to battle it out with Arsenal to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko at the end of the campaign, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Gunners are long-term admirers of the Slovenian star. They were unable to convince him to leave Leipzig last summer.

The London giants are ready to try again at the end of the campaign and they are growingly confident of landing his signature this time.

Amidst this, United are also keeping tabs on his progress and could make an approach of their own for the highly-rated marksman.

The 21-year-old has netted 17 goals for the campaign and he will only get better with age and experience. He could shine with more creative players around him.

He will have a release clause of £59m in his contract later this year and the fee should not prove a stumbling block for United or Arsenal.

Champions League football could be key to convincing him. Arsenal are set for a top-four league finish, but United must win the Europa League to qualify as they are languishing 13th in the English top-flight.
