Manchester United are ready to splash the cash on Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson at the end of the campaign, according to The Mirror.
The Red Devils are expected to pursue a new defensive midfielder this summer with Casemiro confirmed to depart at the end of the season.
Casemiro’s current deal concludes at the end of June, and United have decided against triggering a one-year extension clause present in his contract.
It is now reported that Anderson is the prime target to replace Casemiro in the no.6 role but the Red Devils will face competition from Manchester City.
United are in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League and that should put them in a good situation to land Anderson’s signature.
Anderson prefers to sort out his future before the summer World Cup where he is expected to play a dominant role alongside Declan Rice for England.
Forest could be prepared to sell him for around £75 million.
