Manchester United could enter the transfer market for a central defender in either January or at the end of the campaign.
The Red Devils primarily focused on bolstering their attack during the summer transfer window.
They purchased Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko to strengthen their frontline.
Aside from the trio, they signed left-back Diego Leon and goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
Both of them have yet to make their debuts under manager Ruben Amorim.
The club are expected to continue their spending spree in the future transfer windows. A defensive midfielder is a priority for the Mancunian giants in 2026.
Aside from this, the club are also open to pursuing another centre-back despite Lisandro Martinez being close to making his comeback from a knee injury.
Amorim wants another experienced solution and the focus could be on landing a left-footed option to compete with the likes of Martinez and Luke Shaw.
Shaw has been ever-present on the left side of the United back three in the early phase of the campaign. Amorim has been reluctant to play Ayden Heaven in the starting XI due to his inexperience.
