Liverpool still want to keep Konate

Liverpool have not given up on keeping Ibrahima Konate beyond the summer, according to French outlet L’Equipe.

The Merseyside giants face a potential defensive overhaul with the prospect of multiple departures on the cards.

Andy Robertson is guaranteed to leave the Reds when his current contract expires at the end of the campaign.

The Scotland international has been tipped to join Tottenham Hotspur.

Konate’s contract also concludes on June 30 and as things stand, the Reds have refused to meet his demands.

The Reds have yet to make a fresh contract package to the Frenchman, but have refused to give up on him.

Konate is free to discuss and negotiate a pre-contract with a foreign club, but he has yet to opt that route.

The centre-back is prepared to play the waiting game and could decide on his future after the season ends.

Liverpool are currently sixth in the standings with 45 points, only goal difference behind Manchester United and Chelsea.
