Liverpool could reportedly hijack Newcastle United’s pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.
The Merseyside giants are determined to land a marquee striker this summer with Darwin Nunez expected to head for the exit door.
Newcastle‘s Alexander Isak is the prime target for the Merseyside giants and they are ready to pay around £120 million for his services.
However, the Magpies are reluctant to consider the Swede’s departure.
If their stance does not change, the Reds could swoop for Ekitike, who is one of the top targets for Newcastle in the current transfer window.
The Magpies want Ekitike to partner Isak upfront, but the Reds could hijack the pursuit with an improved transfer offer in the next few days.
Newcastle have already failed with an opening £60m bid for Ekitike. The Reds seem willing to pay more to purchase the highly-rated star.
Ekitike had a superb 2024/25 campaign with Eintracht. He scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists from 48 appearances in all competitions.
