Liverpool given injury scare after Gravenberch suffers ´minor hamstring discomfort´

Liverpool have been dealt another potential injury scare after Ryan Gravenberch suffered a “minor” hamstring injury while representing the Netherlands.

The midfielder played 90 minutes in the win over Malta on Thursday, but was replaced at half-time during the Oranje’s 4-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Finland on Sunday.

Gravenberch, who has played in all but one of Liverpool’s Premier League matches so far this season, was taken off as a precaution and will be assessed following his return to Merseyside.

“Ryan indicated he was experiencing some minor hamstring discomfort,” Koeman told a post-match press conference.

“We obviously didn’t take any risks with that.”

Liverpool have already seen Ibrahima Konate withdraw from France’s squad over the weekend due to a thigh injury. It was a recurrence of the one that forced him off against Chelsea, a match in which Gravenberch was used as an emergency centre-back.

Gravenberch has scored two goals and provided two assists in all competitions for Liverpool so far this term.

Last month, he became the youngest Liverpool player to both score and assist a goal in a Premier League Merseyside derby, helping them to a 2-1 victory.

Liverpool face Manchester United at home in the league on Sunday, with goalkeeper Alisson also missing through injury.
