I didn’t use to like mint. In fact, up until my adult years, I found the herb to be much too pungent. But we, or rather, our flavor profiles, make mistakes when you’re a kid, right? Now, my taste buds can’t get enough of refreshing mint sorbets, aromatic Girl Scout Thin Mints cookies, and cooling York Peppermint Patties. Luckily, the herb’s main character moment is nearly here, and I’m now fully on board to help you celebrate. 

With March 17th approaching, also hailed as St. Patrick’s Day, menus are turning greener and desserts cooler — marking it as the perfect time for your “treat yourself” days to receive a pepperminty glow-up. If you’re ready to track down the most devour-worthy minty bites at your favorite grocers and fast food joints, then, you’re in luck, because I know exactly where to start. 

1. McDonald’s Shamrock Shake 

McDonald’s celebrated its 50th anniversary of the Shamrock Shake back in 2020, and it was just announced that the treat is making yet another comeback. Per the restaurant chain’s website, the minty milkshake consists of vanilla reduced-fat ice cream, McDonald’s secret green-colored Shamrock Shake syrup, and whipped light cream. It’s available in a small, medium, and large sizes for a limited time. It’s not yet known when the treat will leave menus, so make sure to grab it while you can. 

2. Dairy Queen’s Minty Cone and Blizzard 

Dairy Queen debuted its new Mint Crunchin’ Cookie Dipped Cone, which will become available on February 23rd for a limited time. The treat consists of a creamy vanilla soft serve dipped in a green mint-flavored coating that’s been infused with chocolate cookie crumbles. Plus, mint lovers’ beloved Mint Oreo Blizzard Treat returned to the menu, which serves a blend of Oreo cookie pieces, créme de menthe (a sweet, mint-flavored syrup), and DQ’s iconic soft serve. You can order them on the chain’s mobile app or in participating restaurants nationwide. 

3. Costco’s Double Chocolate Mint Sundae

Costco members are running to the warehouse to try the new double chocolate mint sundae, which is being sold for $2.99 a pop. The dessert is described on the food court signage as a cupful of mint ice cream, cookie crumbles, and chocolate sauce. It’s not yet specified how long the sundae will be available, but it’s going extremely viral on TikTok, so you may want to get your hands on the chocolatey treat sooner rather than later.

4. Wendy’s Thin Mints Frosty 

Wendy’s customers just got lucky, because the fast food chain brought back the Thin Mints Frosty Swirl and launched the new Thin Mints Frosty Fusion. The swirl returns with its previous ingredients: a Wendy’s vanilla frosty that’s blended then garnished with a mint cookie crumble sauce, inspired by the famous Girl Scout Thin Mints. The fusion dessert also features Wendy’s vanilla frosty with a mint cookie crumble sauce, but instead additionally includes crushed Girl Scout Thin Mints cookies. The best part about this news, though? You can order both with a chocolate Frosty base instead of vanilla. 

5. Crumbl Cookies Festive Line 

Okay, so this isn’t actually confirmed yet, but it’s rumored that Crumbl Cookies will debut some sort of minty sweet for St. Paddy’s day. Last year, the cookie chain debuted a chocolate mint cake featuring Andes Créme de Menthe (the classic bite-sized candy with chocolate layers and a green mint center). The exact 2026 flavors likely won’t be released until early to mid-March, but, on par with their current menu structure, the specialty treats would approximately be available from March 16th to March 21st. If not minty, it’s a pretty safe bet that customers can snatch a green or Lucky Charms-inspired cookie.
