Rosenior on Jorgensen injury

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has confirmed a groin injury for goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen following the 1-0 Premier League loss to Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues had the chance to go third in the table by beating the Magpies, but failed to do so. Anthony Gordon scored the only goal of the game with a sublime strike.

Speaking after the game, Rosenior confirmed an injury setback for Jorgensen and added that the decision to leave out Josh Acheampong was a tactical choice instead.

He said: “Filip felt his groin in training yesterday but hopefully he’s back soon. Josh Acheampong, it’s just a decision I made today. He’s not out of my plans at all.”

Chelsea remain fifth in the Premier League at the moment but look poised to drop to sixth if Liverpool beat or draw against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield tomorrow.

Robert Sanchez is set to continue between the sticks, given Jorgensen is unlikely to recover in time. He may make his comeback after the international break.
