Lalit Modi reveals a heart-touching Porsche moment with Yuvraj Singh after historic 6 sixes against England

Lalit Modi, the former IPL chairman, recently recalled a memorable promise involving a Porsche and legendary cricketer Yuvraj Singh during Michael Clarke’s Podcast. Modi spoke about how an impulsive dressing room vow in 2007 turned into a legendary cricket moment.

When Yuvraj Singh met Lalit Modi’s Porsche challenge

Lalit  had once set a unique challenge for the Indian players before the T20 World Cup 2007, whoever managed to hit six sixes in an over or take six wickets in an over would receive a Porsche from his own pocket. When Yuvraj achieved the historic feat against England, he immediately turned the moment into a lighthearted exchange. From the boundary, Yuvraj signaled towards Modi, raised his bat, and rushed to him with a playful demand for the promised Porsche. Modi, equally witty, responded by asking for Yuvraj’s bat instead.

During the podcast, Lalit revealed, “Anybody hit six sixes or take six wickets in an over…I’ll give you a Porsche from my pocket”. Yuvraj after achieving the special feat rushed to Modi, reminding him of the promise. Modi recounted, “Yuvraj, looks at me on the boundary…he raises the bat, and he comes running to me, ‘I want my Porsche’, I said, give me the bat.”

Yuvraj’s sensational performances in India’s T20 World Cup triumph

Yuvraj’s performance in the T20 World Cup 2007 was a crucial element of India’s triumphant campaign. His aggressive batting provided momentum at pivotal moments, most famously in the Super 8 match against England, where he made history by smashing six sixes off Broad’s over. That explosive knock saw him reach a half-century in just 12 balls, a record that still stands in T20 Internationals. Beyond this iconic feat, Yuvraj played another match-winning innings in the semifinal against Australia, scoring 70 runs off 30 balls. His impactful performances in high-pressure matches were indispensable to India’s ultimate success.
