Kane scores as Bayern move six points clear with victory

Harry Kane opened the scoring as Bayern Munich moved six points clear of Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga with a 3-2 win over St Pauli on Saturday.

Kane netted in the 17th minute to set Bayern on their way before Leroy Sane bagged a brace for Vincent Kompany’s side.

The England captain’s strike, sweeping home Michael Olise’s cross, was his 22nd in the league season.

Elias Saad equalised for St Pauli 10 minutes later, jinking through the Bayern backline before finishing into the bottom corner.

Olise provided his second assist of the game when he fed Sane with a wonderful pass, which the German international duly fired past Nikola Vasilj in the St Pauli goal.

Kane then turned provider, sending in a low cross which Sane finish calmly to double his tally for the afternoon.

Lars Ritzka pulled one back for St Pauli deep into second-half stoppage but it proved to be little more than consolation.

The victory means Bayern have a healthy lead over defending champions Leverkusen at the summit of the table with seven games remaining.

Kompany’s men will also have one eye on European glory. They take on Inter in the Champions League quarter-final.

Bayern travel to Augsburg in the league next Friday before welcoming the Italian champions – and current Serie A leaders – to the Allianz Arena the following Tuesday.
