Kagiso Rabada, David Miller return as South Africa name T20I and ODI squads for England tour

South Africa have named their ODI and T20I squads for next month’s white-ball tour of England, which will run from September 2 to 14. The series includes three ODIs and three T20Is to be played across Leeds, Nottingham, Cardiff, Southampton, Birmingham, and London. The last time the Proteas toured England in 2022, they drew the ODI series 1-1 and went on to win the T20Is 2-1. This time, the side travels with a mix of experience and exciting young talent, with selectors carefully balancing form, fitness, and future planning.

Kagiso Rabada makes his comeback to white-ball squads

One of the most notable inclusions is Kagiso Rabada, who makes his return to both squads. However, team management has confirmed that he will be closely monitored due to an ankle injury he has been carrying. His availability will be key to South Africa’s bowling strength, especially in English conditions.

Teenage sensation Kwena Maphaka has been added as cover for Rabada in both formats. The 18-year-old fast bowler has already impressed and continues to be groomed as South Africa’s future pace spearhead.

David Miller returns to T20 setup

The return of David Miller provides a huge boost to the T20I setup. Known for his finishing power and ability to anchor tricky chases, Miller’s presence adds much-needed stability in the middle order. His experience will be vital against England’s explosive bowling line-up. Similarly, key all-rounder Marco Jansen has also been declared fit and included in the T20I squad after recovering from a thumb injury.

Notably, the ODI series kicks off at Headingley in Leeds on September 2, followed by matches in Nottingham and Cardiff. The T20I series begins in Southampton before moving to Birmingham and London.
