Jon Hamm Addresses Potential Season 3 Return For Prime Video's Hit Fantasy Show Despite Controversy

TV star Jon Hamm is still at the top of his game and responds to a question about reprising his supporting role in one of his biggest hits from the last several years.

The Mad Men star is coming off Your Friends & Neighbors season 2 and the new Pixar flick Hoppers. He has also recently starred in Landman, Transformers One, Fargo, and Mean Girls. Now, the Emmy winner addresses whether he will return to the iconic Prime Video fantasy series Good Omens.

Based on the iconic fantasy novel of the same name by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, Good Omens follows the exploits of Heaven and Hell’s denizens against the backdrop of modern-day London, featuring Hamm as the angel Gabriel. Following Gabriel’s pivotal role in the series’ second season, Hamm was asked by RadioTimes if he would appear in the upcoming Good Omens season 3.

“That’s a good question!” Hamm replied. “That’s up to people whose paychecks are significantly larger than mine so I’ll leave that to them, but things ended up very well with Archangel Gabriel.” In Good Omens season 2’s ending, Gabriel is revealed to have fallen in love with the demon Beelzebub (Shelley Conn) and the two leave Heaven and Hell, respectively, to be together.

“I think he’s found his true love and is floating the universe somewhere,” continued Hamm, “so there’s always a chance that he will re-coalesce in some way, shape or form. So here’s hoping.” However, with season 3 slated for May 13, Hamm would have more than likely already filmed his appearance, and is seemingly just being coy about the truth.

All adaptations of Neil Gaiman’s works, including Netflix’s The Sandman, have been shadowed by controversy since the fantasy author was accused of sexual assault in 2024. Amid this news, the planned third season of Good Omens was reduced to one 90-minute final episode (the first and second seasons got six episodes each).

Good Omens season 1 covers the source material’s story, while seasons 2 and 3 have extended beyond it with original writing. However, the finale will most likely have to focus on wrapping up the romantic storyline between the two beloved leads, Michael Sheen’s Aziraphale and David Tennant’s Crowley. So, while it would be nice for Gabriel and Beelzebub to make an appearance, it may be sacrificed for the sake of streamlining things.
