The Seattle Seahawks have made Jaxon Smith-Njigba the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history, according to multiple reports in the US.
Smith-Njigba is said to have signed a four-year deal worth $168.6million with $120m guaranteed.
That means the 24-year-old is now tied to the Seahawks until 2031 after the team exercised their option to keep Smith-Njigba for a fifth-year in 2027 on a deal worth around $23.9m last week.
The news caps a brilliant 12 months for 2023 first-round pick Smith-Njigba after he set career highs in receptions (119), receiving yards (1,793) and touchdown receptions (10) en route to being named a first-team All-Pro in 2025.
In three post-season games he had a further 17 catches for 199 yards and two touchdowns as the Seahawks clinched their second Super Bowl title.
Smith-Njigba’s new deal will be welcomed in Seattle after star running back Kenneth Walker III left for the Kansas City Chiefs on a three-year contract. The team have also signed left-tackle Charles Cross to a new deal.
