I’m looking forward to the day that Miles Morales’ Spider-Man finally joins the MCU, but his debut will now come precisely three weeks later than expected. This is sad, because Miles Morales would make an excellent addition to the live-action cinematic franchise, especially alongside Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.
In fact, Tom Holland has expressed his desire to pass the torch to a young protégé for a while. The renowned MCU actor has, in the past, imposed a sort of time limit on his tenure as Peter Parker, asserting that he would have done something “wrong” if he weren’t mentoring a successor by the time he was 30.
By the time Spider-Man’s next movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, releases on July 31, 2026, Tom Holland’s self-imposed age limit will be in effect. This, along with other factors, has given rise to the theory that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will finally debut Miles Morales in the MCU, but recent comments have seemingly put that theory to bed.
Kevin Feige Confirmed Miles Morales’ MCU Debut Would Be After The Spider-Verse
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Will Not Feature Miles Morales
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige recently sat down with the press to divulge a wealth of information about the MCU and its future. It was here that he addressed Miles Morales and his potential debut in the MCU, revealing a little more about Marvel’s relationship with Sony.
With that in mind, Kevin Feige divulged that Marvel Studios had been told to “stay away” from Miles Morales until the animated trilogy is over.
The distribution rights to Spider-Man are still owned by Sony, despite Sony’s Spider-Man Universe going defunct after the $60 million-grossing Kraven the Hunter hammered the final nail in the coffin for the franchise. The celebrated animated Spider-Verse movies, however, are still alive and well, with Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse set to round out the trilogy.

Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse’s Delay Appears To Also Delay Miles’ MCU Debut
Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse Has Been Delayed By Three Weeks
Sadly, not only is Miles Morales prevented from appearing in live-action until the Spider-Verse franchise concludes, but that hurdle has recently been pushed even further away. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has been in production for such a long time that it has driven some fans to frustration.
Although the animated Spider-Verse movies are less resource-intensive, animating the award-winning franchise takes a significant amount of time.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse‘s release date has been delayed several times, with the latest pushing the release date back by three weeks from June 4, 2027, to June 25, 2027. While the delay isn’t as drastic as in the past (fans were initially expecting a 2024 release date), it nonetheless means that Miles Morales is three weeks further from the MCU.
