Bayern Munich maintained their perfect start to the season, as two goals from Luis Diaz and a Harry Kane strike saw off the challenge of Eintracht Frankfurt.
Kane, who also hit the woodwork from point-blank range in the second half, bagged his 11th league goal to become the first Bundesliga player to reach that mark after six matches.
The England captain has started the season in electric fashion, and now has 18 goals in 10 matches across all competitions so far this term.
The result leaves Vincent Kompany’s side top of the Bundesliga, four points ahead of second-place Borussia Dortmund, who played out a closely-fought 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig, who are currently third.
Christoph Baumgartner scored for Leipzig in the seventh minute but Dortmund levelled just over 15 minutes later through Yan Couto.
Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen beat Union Berlin 2-0 courtesy of goals in either half from Ernest Poku and Christian Kofane.
Augsburg ran out 3-1 winners over Wolfsburg, while Werder edged past FC St Pauli 1-0.
Serie A
Two goals in second-half stoppage time, the last coming in the 103rd minute, brought a dramatic end to an extraordinary clash between Lazio and Torino in Serie A.
The game finished 3-3 but the six goals told only half the story. Giovanni Simeone – son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego – opened the scoring for Torino on 16-minutes before a Matteo Cancellieri brace for Lazio before half-time turned the tie on its head.
Former Southampton forward Che Adams levelled for Torino with just over a quarter of an hour remaining before the drama was turned up a notch in added time.
Saul Coco thought he had snatched a late winner for the visitors at the Stadio Olimpico when he netted in the 93rd minute. But the hosts would have the final say, with Danilo Cataldi dispatching a penalty in the 13th minute of stoppage time to leave things all square.
Inter continued their fine recent run of form, running out comfortable 4-1 winners over Cremonese.
Four different scorers ensured Cristian Chivu’s men made it five wins on the spin, with Lautaro Martinez, Ange-Yoan Bonny, Federico Dimarco and Nicolo Barella all on the scoresheet at San Siro.
Federico Bonazzoli scored a late consolation goal for the visitors.
Como continued their strong start to the season under manager Cesc Fabregas, as they drew 1-1 with Atalanta in Bergamo.
Lazar Samardzic gave the hosts the lead but Maximo Perrone levelled in the 19th minute to give Fabregas’ side a point that leaves them in seventh, just three points off leaders AC Milan.
Meanwhile, Lecce moved out of the bottom three after edging out fellow strugglers Parma, with Riccardo Sottil scoring what would prove to be the only goal of the game in the 38th minute.
LaLiga
On a day when Real Madrid moved top of LaLiga, Girona picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Valencia, despite ending the game with nine players.
Vladyslav Vanat gave Girona the lead before Diego Lopez levelled early in the second-half.
Arnau Martinez restored the lead before a wild last quarter of an hour that saw two Girona players – Ivan Martin and Alejandro Frances – sent off to make it a nervy final few moments for the hosts.
There was also a late dismissal in the game between Athletic Club and Mallorca, which ended 2-1 to the former.
Antonio Sanchez was the red card recipient in the 92nd minute after Samu Costa had levelled following Inaki Williams’ opener.
Alejandro Rego grabbed the winner with eight minutes remaining before Sanchez’s red card compounded a miserable afternoon for Mallorca.
In the other game, Levante beat Oviedo 2-0 thanks to goals from Carlos Alvarez and Etta Eyong.
Ligue 1
Marseille leapfrogged Paris Saint-Germain to the top of Ligue 1 – for 24 hours at least – after they were convincing 3-0 winners away at Metz.
Roberto De Zerbi’s team went into half-time on level terms but goals from Igor Paixao, Brighton loanee Matt O’Riley and Amine Gouiri ensured they left Stade Saint-Symphorien sitting top of the pile, albeit having played one game more than Luis Enrique’s men.
Brest and Nantes played out a goalless stalemate, while 10-man Lens were the grateful recipients of a late winner when Abdallah Sima netted in the 96th minute against Auxerre.
Former Crystal Palace striker Odsonne Edouard gave Lens the advantage after a quarter of an hour, only for Francisco Sierralta to draw Auxerre level on 61 minutes.
Lens’ task was made all the more tricky when Ismaelo Ganiou was sent off after 73 minutes. But, despite the numerical disadvantage, Sima was on hand to grab a last-gasp goal to secure all three points.
