The Boys killed its perfect X-Men parody in its early story arcs, but Gen V season 2 has fortunately introduced an even better replacement. After only a few episodes into The Boys and its spin-off, Gen V, it becomes obvious that both shows present hilarious and shock-inducing satires on renowned superheroes from Marvel and DC.

While the most overpowered character in the series, Homelander, serves as the unmistakable parody of Superman, several other supes in the show mirror iconic figures from comic book lore. In both seasons 1 and 2, The Boys also introduced its own hilarious take on a well-known female character from X-Men.

Although the character was never among the key players in the Prime Video sci-fi show, they had a recurring role throughout the opening seasons. Unfortunately, The Boys killed off its X-Men parody too soon. Gen V season 2, however, has introduced the perfect replacement for the character.

After The Boys’ Doppelganger, Harper Is The Franchise’s Take On X-Men’s Mystique

The Boys season 1 introduced a supe named Doppelganger, who was the perfect parody of X-Men’s Mystique. Just like Mystique in the X-Men movies can only mimic another person’s appearance without having the ability to emulate their superpowers, Doppelganger, too, could merely replicate the physical appearance of another individual.

Doppelganger had a significant role in one story thread of The Boys season 1, but his part was significantly reduced in season 2 before Homelander killed him in one brutal sequence. After The Boys, Gen V has now introduced its own take on Mystique by featuring another supe that possesses the ability to mimic.

In Gen V season 1, a young supe named Harper was introduced as a secondary character. For the most part, her powers remained unknown, and she came off as one of the weaker characters in the series. Gen V season 2, however, reveals that she has the ability to mimic another supe’s abilities for a minute.

What makes her powers even more fascinating than Mystique’s and Doppelganger’s is that she does not mimic another individual’s appearance. Instead, she only adopts their supe abilities. In Gen V season 2’s opening arc, she mimics Emma and, surprisingly, has even better control over her powers than Emma does. This, objectively, makes her far stronger than Doppelganger or Mystique.

Harper Gen V Season 2, Episode 3 Scene Hints At A Bigger Role For Her In The Spinoff

After watching how incredibly strong Harper can be as a supe, it is hard not to see how she might have an even bigger role in Gen V‘s future story arcs. Hypothetically, Harper could even mimic someone like Homelander and fight him toe-to-toe for a minute. A minute may not be enough to kill Homelander, but it would be enough to let other powerful supes intervene and do something to weaken him.

While only time will tell how Gen V will utilize Harper’s abilities in future episodes, her power reveal makes her one of the most underrated supes in the entire series. Her one-minute time limit significantly limits her from being a full-fledged threat to top-tier supes, but she could prove to be a valuable asset for the heroes in The Boys spin-off series.
