Tottenham will move second in the Premier League if Thomas Frank’s side win at Leeds United on Saturday.

Spurs, who have drawn their last two top-flight matches 1-1 at home to Wolves and 2-2 at Brighton & Hove Albion, recovered from 2-0 behind after 67 minutes to earn a point at Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Leeds are 12th and unbeaten at home following their 2-2 draw last Saturday against Bournemouth, who equalised in the 93rd minute.

Leeds lineup vs Tottenham

Wingers Dan James (ankle) and Willy Gnonto (calf) are unavailable for Leeds, as is goalkeeper Lucas Perri, who has returned to training following a quad injury, and striker Harry Gray with a hip problem.

Manager Daniel Farke described Frank’s teams as “always well-structured, well-managed and coached”.

“For that, you have to be spot on in what you are doing,” added the German. “They play and press with intensity.

“They always threaten with many runs in behind. When they rotate, they still have found a way in [recent] games to dig in and grind out a result. This is the mentality Thomas bring into his teams.

“They are always pretty effective and find pragmatic solutions to grind out results. We have to be aware that if you are on top against his side, they can come back and deliver.”

Spurs lineup vs Leeds United

Tottenham captain Cristian Romero returns in defence after missing the trip to Norway as a precaution.

Strikers Dominic Solanke (ankle) and Randal Kolo Muani (hamstring) are out with short-term injuries, while playmaker James Maddison has a long-term knee problem.

Winger Dejan Kulusevski and defender Radu Dragusin will be back sooner from knee injuries, and midfielder Yves Bissouma and centre-back Kota Takai are closing in on comebacks.

“Leeds have done very well since they got promoted,” said Frank. “I’ve big respect for Daniel. I’ve known him for many years; he’s a good colleague and friend in the game.

“We battled against each other quite a few times in the Championship and in the Premier League. I’m so happy that he’s doing well and that they got a good start.

“I always admire Elland Road as one of the best stadiums to go to, because the atmosphere is fantastic. It’s a game we’re looking forward to.

“They defend extremely well. They give very little away in open play. We need to really be aware of that and really know that this is a game that can be 90 minutes back and forth.

“There are small setbacks you need to overcome, but we’re ready for it.”
