Rangers vs Genk: Martin misery continues
Rangers were seeking consecutive wins for the first time under new manager Russell Martin and were unfortunate not to take an early lead when Bryan Heynen cleared John Souttar’s header off the line with an overhead kick.
Former Celtic striker Oh Hyeon-gyu spurned an excellent chance for the visitors and Gers midfielder Mohamed Diomande received a straight red card for a lunge on Genk’s Zakaria El Ouahdi near the halfway line.

Both sides were denied a penalty – Genk for a challenge on Yaimar Medina by James Tavenier, Rangers for a potential handball against Joris Kayembe – before the Belgian side were awarded one during first-half added time.
Jack Butland made an excellent diving save to repel Oh’s spot kick, but that proved only a temporary reprieve when the South Korea forward entered the box and fired in 10 minutes after half-time.
Rangers are away to Livingston in the top flight on Sunday (15:00 BST / 10:00 ET / 07:00 PT) and travel to reigning Austrian champions Sturm Graz in the second of their eight league phase matches in the Europa League on Thursday (20:00 BST / 15:00 PT / 12:00 ET).

Europa League format
In a change from the previous group stage held until 2023/24, each team now plays eight matches in the league phase, all against different opponents.
Four of those matches will be at home and four away, with the opponents determined according to four seeding pots split by rankings.
Teams will play two opponents from each of those pots – one against a team from each pot at home and one away. The results decide the overall standings in one league.
The top eight sides in the table qualify automatically for the round of 16. The teams finishing in ninth to 24th will compete in a two-legged knockout phase play-off to reach the last 16.
Teams finishing 25th or lower are out of Europe for the season.
