Flick calls on Barcelona fringe players to guide Blaugrana through gruelling schedule

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick used his post-match comments to underline the importance of squad depth following his side’s 3-0 triumph over Getafe in La Liga.

The Catalans secured their fourth league victory of the campaign, maintaining their unbeaten record in all competitions and staying just two points behind early leaders Real Madrid.

Ferran Torres was the star of the first half, striking twice before Dani Olmo added a third after the break to seal the win at the Olympic Stadium.

Both players had been handed starting opportunities after being rotated in from the midweek Champions League success against Newcastle, and both rewarded Flick’s faith with decisive contributions.

Marcus Rashford, who netted twice in that 2-1 win on Tyneside, watched on from the bench for much of the contest.

The Englishman remains an important attacking option, but Flick made clear that consistency across the squad will be essential if Barcelona are to compete on multiple fronts.

Torres has now moved top of the club’s scoring charts this season with four goals, even though Robert Lewandowski’s return to fitness means the Spaniard is not guaranteed a place in the XI. With Lamine Yamal sidelined, however, opportunities remain for others to impress.

After the final whistle, Flick said: “It’s very important to have players in top form. We have matches every three or four days, so it’s great that our players are performing at a high level.

“We have 25-27 players and we need everyone. The most important thing for me is that each player gives their best for the team’s benefit, and Dani Olmo did that today. That’s what we will expect from him throughout the season.

“Every player in the team is important, and I’m happy to have attackers of this level, they help us a lot.”

Barcelona’s demanding schedule continues with an away trip to Real Oviedo on September 25, followed by a home clash against Real Sociedad three days later.

Four more fixtures are lined up before the October international break, giving Flick further chances to test his squad’s depth and resilience.
