Ewan McGregor and Claire Danes Lead Hulu and A24’s The Spot

Ewan McGregor and Claire Danes are teaming up to star in The Spot, a new Hulu drama series from A24. The show was created by Ed Solomon.

The news of The Spot’s casting comes shortly after Kate Winslet left the project. The star was supposed to be the female lead and act as an executive producer under Juggle Productions, but she reportedly backed out in June due to creative differences. A few weeks after Winslet’s departure, Danes was approached to replace her, and she was officially cast after an intense round of negotiations.

The logline of the series explains that it will follow the lives of a surgeon (Dane) and her husband (McGregor), a teacher who suspects her of being responsible for the hit-and-run accident of a child. His initial distrust of her quickly begins to unravel more flaws in their marriage and pushes their relationship to its limit.

The Spot’s creator, Solomon, will also be the series’ writer, executive producer, and showrunner. This project marks his return to television after HBO Max’s Full Circle. Robin Sweet (Better Call Saul) and Ariel Kleiman (Andor) will serve as executive producers alongside Solomon. Kleiman is also slated to direct the series.

The Spot isn’t the first collaboration between Hulu and A24. In 2021, the two companies created a horror film titled False Positive. The movie followed the story of a married couple, Lucy and Adrian, seeking help due to their fertility issues. After getting pregnant with triplets, Lucy begins to grow suspicious of her doctor. It starred Ilana Glazer, Justin Theroux, and Pierce Brosnan.

There is no official release date for The Spot at the time of this article’s publication. However, filming is expected to take place in 2026.
