This acclaimed sci-fi thriller series starring Aubrey Plaza is perfect from start to finish. Consisting of three seasons, each of which earned a Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes score of 90% or higher, this series is a must-watch for all fans of mind-bending sci-fi thrillers.
Created by Noah Hawley (Alien: Earth, Fargo) in 2017, Legion is part of the extended Marvel Cinematic Universe and is arguably the most surreal entry in the franchise, right next to Doctor Strange and WandaVision. Its bold and innovative story makes it a modern streaming masterpiece of the sci-fi genre.
Legion Is A Perfect Sci-Fi Thriller From Start To Finish
Legion is an underrated sci-fi thriller masterpiece starring Aubrey Plaza, Dan Stevens, and Rachel Keller. The story follows David Haller, the son of Professor Charles Xavier, better known as Professor X, and Gabrielle Haller, who is diagnosed with schizophrenia but discovers he actually has superhuman powers.
David, played by Stevens, is the protagonist in Legion who has a history of being in and out of psychiatric hospitals. During his latest stay, he befriends Lenny, played by Plaza, who has a persistent drug and alcohol addiction and keeps David mildly entertained through her chatty and optimistic demeanor.
David is comfortably numb when viewers meet him in the first episode of Legion until he becomes transfixed on a new patient, Syd, played by Keller. Their inexplicable connection unlocks avenues within his mind that suggest the voices and visions he experiences privately may actually be based in reality.
With its gripping premise, surprising narrative, and strong performances by Plaza, Stevens, and Keller, Legion is a riveting show that’s easy to get lost in. Each season improved from a critical perspective, jumping to a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score in season 2 and a 93% RT score in season 3, suggesting that it only gets better from the moment viewers press play.
Binge All 3 Seasons Of Legion On Hulu & Disney+
Even though it’s been nearly nine years since Legion premiered on FX, it remains one of the most intriguing original series to binge-watch on Hulu and Disney+. Seasons 1 and 3 consist of eight episodes, all between 40 and 70 minutes each, while season 2 has 11 episodes, giving viewers a great option for a long-term binge spanning multiple days or weeks.
Legion is the perfect show to binge while waiting for Alien: Earth season 2, as both are sci-fi thrillers with epic twists and surrealistic elements that make them signature works by Noah Hawley. Even if you aren’t the biggest sci-fi fan, Legion is one of those rare shows that blends genres and tones to create a truly unique viewing experience, which some would say is perfect from start to finish.
