Maresca on Palmer and Tosin substitutions

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has explained the early substitutions of Cole Palmer and Tosin Adarabioyo against Legia Warsaw in the Conference League.

The Blues faced the Polish outfit on the road in the first leg of the quarter-final. They were 0-0 at the half-time whistle, but managed to secure a 3-0 victory in the end.

Palmer and Tosin were substituted at the interval and Maresca clarified that they were pre-planned and not injury-related.

He told reporters: “We planned for him and Tosin to come off on 45 minutes. Everything is fine.”

Chelsea have a huge game against Ipswich Town in the Premier League this weekend. They must beat the Tractor Boys in their pursuit of Champions League football.

Palmer has been an undisputed starter for the Blues in the top-flight. He should be fit and raring to go after his early substitution against Legia on the road today.

The Blues welcome Legia for the second leg next Thursday.
