Maresca on Palmer

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed an injury blow following the 5-1 Premier League win over West Ham United on the road.

The Blues picked up their first win of the league campaign at the London Stadium. They conceded an early goal but responded brilliantly.

Estevao Willian was adjudged the man of the match after a fantastic full debut, but that may not have happened, had Cole Palmer started the game.

Palmer was initially in the starting XI for the Blues, but he was replaced by Estevao in the warm-up as he was struggling with a groin issue.

Speaking after the game, Maresca said: “Cole was not 100 percent in the last few days, he tried in the warm-up to play but he was not right.

“We will see how bad it is. He was already not 100 percent against Palace but he tried to make an effort for the club.”

Chelsea have moved to third in the table after their rout of West Ham.
