Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has said that Martin Odegaard played a big part in Arsenal’s comeback Premier League win at St James Park.
The Magpies were second-best for most of the opening half. Nick Pope made two excellent saves to deny Eberechi Eze from finding the back of the net.
Nick Woltemade opened the scoring for the Magpies out of the blue, but the Gunners had the final laugh as they came from behind to beat the hosts.
Mikel Merino equalised for the Gunners with a fine header in the 84th minute. Right at the end, Gabriel Magalhaes bagged a dramatic stoppage-time winner.
Speaking after the game, Howe said that Odegaard transformed the fortunes of the Gunners as he was able to make quality defence splitting passes.
Odegaard was brilliant in his short cameo off the bench. He provided a fine delivery from a corner for Gabriel’s headed goal in the 96th minute.
Arsenal have jumped to second in the table after today’s win.
