Drake has been boosting fan excitement about the release of his next album, Iceman, and now he’s teasing a tour for the LP, which may land in U.S. cities. The OVO honcho is currently in Europe with PartyNextDoor for their tour, $ome $pecial $hows 4 U, to support their album, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, released this past Valentine’s Day.
Drake’s first European stop was London’s Wireless Festival from July 11-13. He then played in the UK city of Manchester before hopping to other places like Merksem, Belgium, Zürich, Switzerland, and Cologne, Germany. The tour wraps up in Hamburg, Germany on September 23, which will allow Drake the ability to fully focus on the Iceman album and its tour.
Drake Teased The Iceman Tour On Instagram
It’s safe to say that all eyes are on Drake’s social media pages these days, since fans are eager to see the rapper’s next moves after his historic battle with Kendrick Lamar concluded. So, it shouldn’t be surprising that his message about the Iceman tour is closing in on one million likes in less than 24 hours.
“COMING TO A CITY NEAR YOU,” wrote Drake in all caps next to a clip that showed concert footage and quick shots of diamond pendants to hammer home his Iceman concept. It seems that some of the excitement the post generated has to do with Drake not touring the U.S. since the Lamar battle, opting instead to go overseas.
Some people have theorized that the decision not to tour the U.S. had to do with Drake possibly being upset with U.S. music fans for making Lamar’s Drake diss, “Not Like Us”, a colossal-sized success, and for many siding with the Compton rapper.
“U not mad at us Americans no more?” wrote someone in the comments of Drake’s post. “[Because] I be defending u like my life depends on it.” However, it’s almost guaranteed that Drake will defend himself on the Iceman LP, which will be his first solo album since the Lamar battle ended, and something that he’s now working on.
Drake Flew Producer Gordo To Europe To Work On Iceman
One day before Drake teased the Iceman tour, his longtime producer, Gordo, said the album was in its final stages of completion. He also let fans know that Drake made arrangements for him to come to Europe, writing, “This guy got me a jet to Europe just to finish ICEMAN. He scooped me from the airport.”
Some of Drake’s fans seemed thrilled about Gordo working on the LP, while others expressed concern that he’d solely craft house music for Iceman songs, since Gordo made a recent switch to house music, which can be heard on his latest album, Diamante.
As of now, there’s no release date for the Iceman album, and no word on when the tour will begin, but based on the album being near completion, and Drake teasing the tour on Instagram, fans should expect a major announcement sooner rather than later.
