Collecting fragments is vital to your progress in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined. Unlike previous games in the series, which typically feature larger continental maps, DQ7 is divided entirely into a series of small islands. You’ll need to unlock each individual region by assembling stone maps.

However, these maps are ancient and long since broken, consisting of colored fragments that have been flung far and wide across the world. While the game puts most of them directly in your path, you’ll have to go out of your way to find some of them.

Below is the location of every fragment in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined that we’ve been able to find to date. If you’re missing one, I recommend cross-referencing this list with the Tablet List in the Info section of Dragon Quest 7‘s menu to find it quickly; they’re listed in the same order and with the same titles here. Note that this guide is a work in progress, and other fragments may be added over time.

All Fragment Locations In Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined

Yellow Fragment (Present) Shrine of Mysteries

• Your first tablet will be granted to you automatically as part of the story when you visit the Shrine of Mysteries. You literally can’t miss it.

Yellow Fragment (Present) Estard

• Head to the town of Estard and take the stairs behind the church.
• Follow the path to meet Dermot the Hermit. Speak with him, and he’ll give you a key to the nearby cave.
• Proceed into the cave and solve the simple shadow puzzle, then head into the next room to fight two enemies.
• Pick up the Yellow Fragment from the platform in front of you.

Yellow Fragment (Present) Rainbow Cove

• Go to the tavern in Estard and speak to Pike.
• Collect three empty bottles for Pike: one outside his house, one near the entrance to town, and one next to the church. Look for the golden sparkles.
• Exit Estard and head northeast to Rainbow Cove. Speak to Pike again, then interact with the water.
• Head into the Rainbow Cove Cave and solve a puzzle, pushing the stones so that they block the flow of water.
• Enter the door downstairs to find another Yellow Fragment.

Yellow Fragment (Present) Pilchard Bay

• Return to Pilchard Bay and enter the Hero’s house.
• Speak to Pollock to receive another Yellow Fragment.

Red Fragment (Past) The Tower

• On level 5 of The Tower east of Ballymolloy. It’s lying on the floor next to a chest.

Red Fragment (Present) Rainbow Mines

• Travel to the Ballymolloy region in the present.
• Head all the way to the bottom of the Rainbow Mines; the Red Fragment can be found on the ground in the sunken area.

Red Fragment (Present) Estard Castle

• Travel to Estard Castle and take the stairs up to the second floor.
• Once upstairs, head outside via the northeast stairs, then enter the tower on the eastern side of the castle.
• Take the stairs down, then again. Speak to Dermot and the guard to open the gate if you haven’t already, then head downstairs a third time.
• Board the raft and follow the moat around to the west side of the castle. Disembark when you reach a small platform with stairs.
• Go around the castle to the north side, and go through the doors. Head immediately down the stairs; there’s a Red Fragment in this basement room.

Green Fragment (Past) The Tower

• Gained automatically after beating the Golem boss as part of the Ballymolloy scenario.

Green Fragment (Present) Ballymolloy

• Travel to Ballymolloy in the present and enter the watchtower; it’s the biggest building in the middle of town.
• Take the stairs to the second floor and talk to the NPC there. Answer “No” to receive a Green Fragment.

Green Fragment (Past) Emberdale

• During the Emberdale Region scenario, visit the item shop in town.
• The Green Fragment can be found in a chest in the northern room.

Green Fragment (Present) Emberdale

• After the Emberdale Region scenario, travel to the weapons shop in the present town of Emberdale.
• The Green Fragment can be found in the northeast corner of the shop.

Gray Fragment (Present) Burnmount

• Return to Burnmount in the present Emberdale Region.
• Head all the way down to Underground Level 1. The Gray Fragment is in the northwestern part of this area.

Red Fragment (Past) Burnmount

• Obtained automatically after defeating the Glowering Inferno at the end of the Burnmount dungeon.

Red Fragment (Past) Grotta del Sigillo

• During the L’Arca scenario, travel to the Grotta del Sigillo.
• Take the stairs down to Level 2 and follow the short passage leading west to find a Red Fragment.

Red Fragment (Present) Grotta del Sigillo

• Return to the L’Arca Region in the present and travel to the Grotta del Sigillo.
• On Level 1, follow the short northwestern passage to find another Red Fragment.

Red Fragment (Present) Grotta del Sigillo

• Head to Level 6 in the Grotta del Sigillo and move the stone.
• During the ensuing dialogue scene, you’ll automatically receive yet another Red Fragment.

Yellow Fragment (Present) L’Arca

• Return to the town of L’Arca in the present.
• Smash a jar in the north-central house (next to the barn) to find a Yellow Fragment.

Yellow Fragment (Past) Institute of Automatry

• During the Frobisher scenario, travel to the Institute of Automatry.
• The Yellow Fragment is located inside a barrel in the northwestern building.

Yellow Fragment (Present) Frobisher

• Return to Frobisher in the present.
• Enter the large L-shaped building on the west side of town from the southwest entrance, across from the inn.
• You’ll find the Yellow Fragment in the northwest part of this room.

Yellow Fragment (Present) Institute of Automatry

• You’ll receive this Yellow Fragment automatically at the end of the present-day story in Frobisher.

Blue Fragment (Past) Automaton Stronghold

• You’ll receive this Blue Fragment while exploring the Automaton Stronghold dungeon in the past version of Frobisher.

Blue Fragment (Present) Dig Site

• After completing the Roamer Encampment chapter, return to the region and visit the newly established Dig Site in the northeast.
• The Blue Fragment is located inside the tent; you’ll have to pay five gold to get in.

Blue Fragment (Present) Estard Castle

• King Donald will grant you this Blue Fragment when you return to Estard Castle after completing the Roamer Encampment scenario.

Yellow Fragment (Past) Poolside Cave

• During the Roamer Encampment scenario, explore the Poolside Cave.
• The Yellow Fragment is in the northeastern alcove of Underground Level 3.

Yellow Fragment (Past) Alltrades Abbey

• This Yellow Fragment is automatically granted to you at the end of the Alltrades Abbey scenario, once you’re able to change your vocation.

Yellow Fragment (Present) Alltrades Abbey

• Return to Alltrades Abbey in the present and speak to Jacqui to obtain another Yellow Fragment.

Yellow Fragment (Present) Bandits’ Base

• Return to the Alltrades Abbey region in the present and travel to the Bandits’ Base on the western part of the island.
• When you arrive, watch the cutscene, then speak to the guards outside the cave and choose the correct password (“Get lost!”).
• Head to the back of the Bandits’ Base and speak with The Mighty Pip. Defeat him in a short and simple boss battle, and he’ll give you another Yellow Fragment.

Blue Fragment (Past) Pilgrim’s Perdition

• Found in a chest on the west side of Pilgrim’s Perdition during the Alltrades Abbey scenario, just outside the church. Search the northernmost chest.

Blue Fragment (Past) Al-Balad

• Inside the storeroom (the easternmost building) in Al-Balad. It’ll be closed to you when you first arrive; play through the story until you’re allowed access.

Blue Fragment (Present) Temple Palace

• After completing the Al-Balad scenario, return to the Temple Palace in the present.
• Head inside to Level 1 and smash the jars between the two downward staircases to find a Blue Fragment.

Blue Fragment (Present) Roamer Encampment

• After completing the Al-Balad scenario and returning to King Donald, he’ll send you back to the Roamer Encampment region.
• Play through the brief scenario there, eventually meeting Aishe at the Cape Overlooking the Ocean.
• Speak to Aishe, and she’ll join the party, giving you a Blue Fragment in the process.

Gray Fragment (Present) Faraday Castle

• Inside a barrel in the present-day Dungeon of Faraday Castle, in the Frobisher Region.

Gray Fragment (Past) Roamer Encampment

• Inside a jar in the northwestern part of the Roamer Encampment in the past.

Gray Fragment (Past) Alltrades Abbey

• Play through the Alltrades Abbey scenario until you’re permitted to return to the Abbey with Jacqueline.
• Travel down to Basement Level 1, where you’ll find several doors are now unlocked.
• Head through the northeastern door into a small dormitory, then through the southeastern door.
• This should put you in the electrified room on the east side of the basement, where you’ll brave the current to open the chest and claim a Gray Fragment.

Gray Fragment (Past) Hardlypool

• Inside a barrel in the northeastern building in Hardlypool.

Red Fragment (Past) Highendreigh Tower

• Granted automatically by Old Man Riffer as part of the Hardlypool scenario at Highendreigh Tower.

Red Fragment (Present) Wetlock

• Return to Wetlock in the present and complete the scenario, removing the monster infestation from Highendreigh Tower.
• Head back to Wetlock and you’ll be granted access to the treasure room.
• Take the raft from the stairs behind the northwesternmost building of Wetlock, and follow the canal to the southwest.
• Speak to the guard, enter the treasure room, and claim a Red Fragment from the chest on the platform.

Red Fragment (Present) The Tallest Tower

• Granted automatically by Sir Mervyn after reviving him at The Tallest Tower.

Gray Fragment (Past) Temple Palace

• Head down to Basement Level 1 of the Temple Palace during the Al-Balad scenario.
• Smash the jars at the back of the small room with two jackal statues to receive a Gray Fragment.

Gray Fragment (Present) Al-Balad

• Return to Al-Balad in the present and enter the giant jar in the center of town.
• Inside, smash the smaller jar to obtain a Gray Fragment.

Gray Fragment (Present) Palazzo di Bulgio

• After you’ve unlocked the flying carpet, travel to the Palazzo di Bulgio in the previously inaccessible area of the L’Arca Region.
• Enter the Palazzo and head up to Level 2, where you’ll find the Gray Fragment in a chest.

Gray Fragment (Present) Grand Conjuratorium

• In the present, return to the Hubble Region.
• Solve the puzzle on the main level of the Conjuratorium by walking left to right, then top to bottom through the area with the staircase. This is the same solution you may have used to open the chest in Hubble Castle.
• Head down the newly revealed stairs and find the Gray Fragment.

Green Fragment (Present) Tombe des Héros Inconnus

• On the ground inside the Tombe des Héros Inconnus in La Bravoure Region. You’ll need the flying carpet to reach it.

Green Fragment (Past) Falls Hollow

• During the Hubble scenario, you’ll be sent to Falls Hollow to retrieve a starshard.
• Near the end of the dungeon, you’ll encounter a small house carved into the side of a waterfall. Enter and retrieve the Green Fragment from the ground.

Green Fragment (Past) Hubble

• After retrieving the starshard from Falls Hollow during the Hubble chapter, Wizz will grant you his Seal of Approval.
• Take this to Hubble and show it to the guard to enter the Inquisitory.
• The Green Fragment is lying on the ground in a small room north of the main entrance.

Green Fragment (Present) Hubble Castle

• Granted automatically as part of the main story, after speaking with Queen Euphonia in present-day Hubble.

Blue Fragment (Present) La Bravoure

• Inside the well at the south end of La Bravoure in the present.

Blue Fragment (Past) Aeolus Vale

• Lying on the ground of the Praetor’s House on the west side of Aeolus Vale.

Blue Fragment (Present) Sanctum of the Cirrus

• On the altar in the Sanctum of the Cirrus – Level 4, where you found the stone in the past scenario.

Turquoise Fragment (Present) Highendreigh Tower

• Received automatically after beating the Ethereal Serpent in present-day Highendreigh Tower.

Turquoise Fragment (Past) Buccanham Palace

• Behind the easternmost house in Buccanham.
• All doors will be locked when you first arrive in town; progress the story until morning comes, when you can access the Turquoise Fragment.

(Past) The Beacon

Gray Fragment (Past) Wetlock

• After completing the Hardlypool scenario, return to Wetlock to retrieve your reward.
• Board the raft using the stairs behind the northwesternmost building, and follow the canal southwest to enter the treasure room.
• Retrieve the Gray Fragment from the chest. You’ll later follow a similar process to retrieve a Red Fragment in the present.

Silver Fragment (Present) Sunken Citadel

• In the present, use your ship to enter the whirlpool southwest of the Hardlypool Region.
• Retrieve the Silver Fragment from Gracos’ Throne Room.

Silver Fragment (Past) Pilgrim’s Perdition

• This Silver Fragment is located in the boarding house in Pilgrim’s Perdition of the Alltrades Abbey Region, the northernmost building in town.
• However, you won’t be able to obtain it until you’ve returned Jacqueline to the Abbey and freed the people of Pilgrim’s Perdition.
• Once you’ve done so, return to the mostly-empty town and pick up the Silver Fragment behind the unoccupied counter.

Silver Fragment (Present) King Maximo’s Mansion

• Collect 50 Mini Medals throughout the game. If you’re missing a few, see our guide to all Mini Medal locations in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined here.
• Once you’ve found the flying carpet, travel to King Maximo’s Mansion in the Hardlypool Region (or the Mini Medal counters at Estard Castle or Alltrades Abbey) and turn in your Mini Medals to receive a Silver Fragment.
