Doctor Responsible For Supplying Matthew Perry With Ketamine Sentenced

UPDATE: The so-called “Ketamine Queen” has been sentenced in the death of Matthew Perry.

After pleading guilty, Jasveen Sangha has been sentenced to 15 years in prison, per Deadline. This is after Salvador Plasencia, a doctor involved in supplying drugs to Matthew Perry before his overdose, was sentenced to 30 months in prison in December. Sangha faced 65 years in prison and millions of dollars in fines.

In a previous court appearance, Sangha admitted to being aware that the drugs she provided to another defendant, Eric Fleming, were probably for Perry.

The Emmy-nominated Friends star passed away at age 54 on October 28, 2023. He was discovered dead at his Los Angeles residence. According to reports, Perry was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his home.

Shortly after Perry’s death, Friends co-creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane, and the show’s executive producer, Kevin Bright, issued a joint statement. “This truly is The One Where Our Hearts Are Broken. We will always cherish the joy, the light, the blinding intelligence he brought to every moment. Not just to his work, but in life as well. He was always the funniest person in the room. More than that, he was the sweetest, with a giving and selfless heart.

Previously, December 3: Salvador Plasencia, one of the doctors involved in supplying drugs to Matthew Perry shortly before his fatal overdose, was sentenced to 30 months in prison.

The Friends star’s mother and half-sister were present in the courtroom when the doctor was sentenced. Sherilyn Peace Garnett, a U.S. District Judge, ordered him to serve two and a half years along with a fine of $5,600. Plasencia, who pleaded guilty earlier this summer, was taken into custody after the hearing. He will also be required to complete two years of supervised release once his prison sentence ends.

The doctor previously referred to Perry as a “moron” in text messages to a physician, Mark Chavez, while discussing supplying the ketamine. However, he seemingly expressed a little bit of remorse during his hearing. Plasencia stated, “I failed him, I should have protected him.”

Plasencia was one of five individuals prosecuted for Perry’s death. Chavez admitted in October 2024 that he had distributed ketamine. The actor’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, accepted responsibility for his role in August 2024. Eric Fleming, who provided the ketamine that led to his death, also acknowledged his involvement that same month. Jasveen Sangha, known as the “Ketamine Queen,” pleaded guilty in September 2025.

Statements were released by both of Perry’s parents, condemning Plasencia for his actions and imploring the judge to punish him accordingly. The actor’s mom and stepdad rightfully shamed the doctor for breaking his vows to protect his patients as a medical professional and accused him of taking advantage of their son during a very vulnerable time in his life.

This doctor conspired to break his most important vows, repeatedly sneaked through the night to meet his victim in secret. For what, a few thousand dollars? So he could feed on the vulnerability of our son … and crow, as he did so, with that revealing question: ‘I wonder how much this moron will pay. Let’s find out.

The Friends star’s dad and stepmom said that the doctor wasn’t good enough to “hear our feelings” and “how you devastated our family, contributing to the loss of Matthew, our only son.”
