Daryl Dixon’s Los Primitivos Are Working With El Alcázar

Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3, episode 4, “La Justicia Fronteriza”.After four episodes, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has finally introduced its first definitive villain group, and while their instant impact completely shook up the series, there may be more to the story regarding Los Primitivos. Although the antagonists officially debuted in episode 1, this mysterious faction only had a brief appearance in season 3’s premiere and has been absent ever since.

However, their return in “La Justicia Fronteriza” felt like their true introduction, and the tribe made a huge statement. While it was unclear whether Solaz del Mar or El Alcázar would become Daryl Dixon season 3’s main villains, neither made an attempt on Carol’s or Daryl’s lives, except for a small group who were acting on their own.

Both communities provided reasons to be suspicious of them, yet neither of them has been anywhere near as violent as Los Primitivos. This new faction slaughtered many of Solaz del Mar’s residents and proved Spain isn’t as safe as it seemed in The Walking Dead, but there is something off about their motivations, and one theory explains why.

Daryl Dixon Season 3’s Los Primitivos Could Be Connected To El Alcázar

Los Primitivos’ attack on Solaz del Mar came without any explanation or buildup. Having seen them just once in the premiere, scoping out the crash site of Julian’s boat, the group rode off without a word after taking the ship’s supplies. Now, they’re back and wasted no time launching a coordinated assault on Solaz alongside the nearby lighthouse community.

While Daryl, Carol, and their sailing allies fought off a small pack of these new villains, the main conflict was at Solaz, with Los Primitivos running headfirst into gunfire before eventually breaching the main gate. From here, they murdered a large portion of the community, even launching walkers and fire towards the town from afar, hinting at a deliberate strategy.

Having captured one of the assailants, Fede questioned Los Primitivos’ motivations, with the restrained man claiming they served no one and simply wanted to burn it all down, but it feels like more is going on. The antagonists knew exactly where to attack and arrived shortly after El Alcázar left Solaz, which seems like too much of a coincidence.

Likewise, it’s unclear how Los Primitivos would even know that Fede’s community serves El Alcázar, which hints at a possible connection. Although none of Daryl Dixon season 3’s main characters were killed during this battle, there were plenty of casualties on both sides, and tonnes of resources were expended, which could have been the plan all along.

As a result, Fede now feels even more strongly about Solaz’s alliance with El Alcázar, but the whole ordeal could’ve secretly been a punishment for the hostilities the future King faced while visiting. Assuming this is true, the show’s newest threat may quietly be working with El Alcázar, who might have given these unhinged fighters the green light to attack.

Being Involved In The Attack Would Cement El Alcázar As Daryl Dixon Season 3’s Main Villain Group

Although it’s just a theory, the idea of El Alcázar and Los Primitivos having some sort of alliance would further cement the former as the show’s main villain group. Their arrangement with Solaz del Mar was rightfully called out by Carol, as the powerful faction offers resources and protection in exchange for one of the community’s daughters each year.

Naturally, this was the first red flag when it came to Spain’s most influential settlement, and Torres’ outburst towards Fede further indicated that El Alcázar is power hungry. As a result, it was already hard to view them as anything other than antagonists, but if they used Los Primitivos to do their dirty work, it fully secures their main villain status.

Taking a woman from her family before ordering a hit on the town she just left is as sinister as it gets, and the results were extremely brutal. It will take Solaz a long time to recover, and those lost lives will be felt for years, confirming just how ruthless Torres’ leadership appears to be.

Still, despite El Alcázar seeming far from innocent, it remains a possibility that Los Primitivos worked alone and simply want to be Spain’s only survivors in The Walking Dead, making the remaining few episodes all the more important as they will hopefully reveal both groups’ true colors while exposing if there really is a connection between them.

Los Primitivos Could Be The Walking Dead’s Best Villain Group Since Negan’s Saviors

They may not have a lot of backstory at the moment, but their first act of violence indicates that Los Primitivos could be one of the franchise’s best villain groups in years. The Walking Dead has struggled to replace the CRM after their disappointing conclusion, and none of the spinoffs have introduced any enemies as compelling as the Saviors.

However, Los Primitivos’ lust for blood and unknown motivations make them a compelling wildcard that should be a fascinating addition to the zombie universe. Whether their purpose is a religious one, a pushback against Spain’s political post-apocalypse set-up, or simply a group of lost survivors looking to cause chaos, the faction certainly has a lot of potential.

We haven’t seen such a successful villain attack since the Whisperers, and even they didn’t claim quite as many lives. Therefore, the fact that they took down such a fortified town and had so many people willing to sacrifice themselves hints at Los Primitivos being a big problem going forward in Daryl Dixon, and I can’t wait to see more of them.
