Dark Souls Returns With Official Release On May 15

Dark Souls is one of the most iconic and beloved franchises in FromSoftware history, and it’s hard to believe it’s been an entire decade since the most recent game was released. Since Dark Souls 3‘s release ten years ago, fans of the franchise have been hoping against hope that a revival is in the cards, though it doesn’t seem likely Dark Souls 4 is going to happen anytime soon.

While FromSoftware director Hidetaka Miyazaki has made it clear that making a fourth entry that lives up to expectations would be near impossible, that hasn’t stopped players from speculating over what the next mainline game could possibly look like. Further, with new content in the Dark Souls universe being especially hard to come by, players are quick to grab any new releases they can get their hands on.

This includes an official upcoming Dark Souls release that will be available on May 15 featuring an iconic gameplay element from across the trilogy (via Bandai Namco).

Dark Souls Is Back With A New Release This May

Dark Souls is officially returning this May with a beautiful new collectible statue featuring the iconic bonfire that players rest, heal, and upgrade at throughout the series. The Dark Souls Original Bonfire Statue is a popular collectible item that has already seen a limited-edition run in the past, and quickly became one of the Bandai Namco store’s best-selling items.

As such, supplies ran out pretty fast and fans have been waiting for a restock ever since. The statue is available to pre-order now for roughly $95, and it’s considered an exclusive, premium collectible, sitting roughly 8 inches tall and lighting up to “create the game’s environment to reflect the most epic memories from the series.”

The official item description states that the collectible statue is “hand-painted to reproduce each detail of the game’s bonfire,” and apparently players “won’t get the same statue twice,” implying each statue is completely unique and original. While it’s not exactly a brand-new Dark Souls game or remake/remaster of one of the games in the trilogy, the bonfire statue is sure to take your collection to the next level.

Will There Ever Be A Dark Souls 4?

Despite Miyazaki’s comments over the years indicating a new game in the Dark Souls saga is highly unlikely, there’s always going to be a glimmer of hope among the player-base given just how beloved the series is. If Dark Souls 4 ever got an official announcement, it would be among the most shocking and hyped reboots in gaming.

At the end of the day, players will have to wait and see what the future holds for Dark Souls, and even if a new game never happens, there’s sure to be plenty of high-quality merchandise, gear, and collectibles to look forward to down the road.
