Dark Souls is one of the most iconic franchises ever developed by FromSoftware, and its impact on video game culture has been incredible over its lifespan. Each entry in the Dark Souls franchise redefined what was possible in the RPG genre and paved the way for countless soulslikes to come.
However, Dark Souls fans are still getting new announcements to look forward to even after all this time, with a brand-new official release that fans of the franchise can check out right now. It’s one of several FromSoftware and Bandai Namco releases announced in recent weeks, and will only be available to a select audience (via X).
Dark Souls Gets Official New Release
Dark Souls fans in Europe can officially purchase the brand-new Soul of Cinder Goblet collectible item from the Bandai Namco storefront. It’s a unique, resin-cast and officially licensed that is “expertly hand-painted to reflect the dark, epic style of the game.” Seen above, it features a Dark Souls-themed Soul of Cinder portrait, with fiery flames and hand-painted details such as “delicate pink flowers” and “fiery orange flames.”
The Dark Souls Soul of Cinder Goblet comes in a full-color collectible box that’s perfect for showcasing it in your collection display, and is highly recommended for “Dark Souls fans, fantasy collectors, and gothic décor enthusiasts” alike. The goblet is currently listed at roughly 45 € and will only be available while supplies last.
Further, Bandai Namco Europe recently released a unique resin-cast Mimic Box collectible that fans can also grab while it’s available, listed currently at roughly 95 €. Both items are only available to European audiences, however, with no official plans announced for a US or global release.
Will There Ever Be A Dark Souls Remake?
Fans of Dark Souls are a bit torn over whether the original game needs a proper remake, a la the Demon’s Souls PS5 launch title that many players hailed as an excellent modern reimagining of the original. However, after Bluepoint Games recent studio closure, the team behind the Demon’s Souls remake, players aren’t very optimistic about a DS1 next-gen remake happening.
That said, it’s definitely a remote possibility, and there’s a far higher likelihood of us seeing a Dark Souls 1 remake before we ever see a Bloodborne remake or remaster, given the internal politics preventing Bloodborne from happening.
Either way, there is clearly still interest in the Dark Souls franchise and IP based on Bandai Namco’s recent product releases and fan sentiment toward the game. It’s a testament to the haunting and memorable world that FromSoftware created, and players will always have their fingers crossed for major announcements or new projects related to Dark Souls.
