Dark Souls is easily one of the most iconic video game franchises from developers FromSoftware, influencing an entire era of soulslike games and reimagining what was possible in the genre across the entire trilogy.
In a surprise announcement today that Dark Souls fans will want to check out, Bandai Namco has officially released a brand-new Dark Souls Mimic Box, available for purchase at their online storefront (via X). It’s a great new collectible item that is absolutely horrifying, and hardcore fans will want to grab it while supplies last.
Bandai Namco Announces Dark Souls Mimic Box
Dark Souls fans can officially grab this brand-new Mimic Box collectible from Nemsis Now, in collaboration with FromSoftware and Bandai Namco. It’s a roughly 11cm tall, high-quality resin model that has hand-painted details that highlight all the horrifying features of the iconic Mimic Box enemy from Dark Souls.
The unique collectible item features the Mimic Box with “outstretched arms, razor-sharp teeth, and a grotesque tongue emerging from the chest,” as seen above, and includes a removable lid. It’s marketed as the perfect gift item for “Dark Souls fans, gamers and collectors alike.”
The Mimic Box is currently listed at roughly 95 € and is “a must-have item that brings a touch of dark fantasy to your shelf or desk.” Similar items have sold out quickly from the Bandai Namco store, so don’t wait too long.
Will We Ever Get A Dark Souls Remake?
Dark Souls fans have been wondering for a while now if they’ll ever get a proper next-gen remake of either Dark Souls 1 or 2 (or both), and while the rumored Dark Souls 3 remaster is still a possibility, not everyone is equally excited about how that may turn out. That said, no official remake or remaster of any Dark Souls project has been announced by FromSoftware.
Further, after Sony’s recent shutdown of Bluepoint Games, the likelihood has dwindled for any further FromSoftware remakes a la Demon’s Souls. Many fans who were hopeful for a potential Bloodborne remake or anything Dark Souls-related took this as a sign that Sony may not be interested in pursuing remakes, despite their overall popularity among players.
Either way, while the Mimic Box collectible isn’t exactly the release that fans have been praying for when it comes to Dark Souls, it’s a great and horrifying addition to any collection.
