Cyberpunk 2077 Fans Split Over Official New Game Reveal

Heading to the arcade was always a highlight of many of our childhoods. Inserting a coin into the machine, jumping on what felt like a real-sized motorbike, and swaying from side to side as you raced against AI foes just felt like the pinnacle of gaming, and now it seems as though the company UNIS Technology has found a way to recreat that magic.

From the arcade developer comes Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush, an arcade-only driving game where players will take to the neon-soaked streets of Night City to race through some familiar locations.

Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush Has Split Fans

Unveiled on UNIS Technology’s official YouTube page, Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush is the collaboration we never saw coming, especially as it will only be available to play in arcades in certain locations. However, if anybody was going to attempt it, it was UNIS Technology, who is perhaps best known for Neon Rush. Now, by adapting Neon Rush to the world of Cyberpunk 2077, the results are phenomenal as V hops on their motorbike and races fellow players head-to-head.

With the ability to use weapons to disarm opponents, a Nitro boost to speed ahead of them, or even tackle some of Night City’s biggest jumps, this is an arcade game unlike any other, and of course, it is all set in the familiar streets of Night City, including iconic locations such as North Oak and the Badlands. Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush will feature seven playable characters, as well as eight bike types, four playable tracks, and more.

Race, drift, and fight your way through Night City in Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush. This arcade combat racer lets players battle opponents with guns and melee attacks while speeding through neon-lit tracks. Featuring motion motorcycle gameplay, multiple characters, bikes, and intense maps, Chrome Rush delivers an adrenaline-fueled arcade experience.

However, despite the promise of a fun-filled arcade game, fans over on r/cyberpunkgame are not feeling the hype and were happy to share their thoughts on the new release. “Those backflips look stupid as hell,” one user shared. “It’s like the game makers can’t decide if they want it to be Road Rash or Mario Kart.” Another hoped Chrome Rush was an official update for Cyberpunk 2077 itself, saying, “Man, I thought for a second there that they can’t stop, won’t stop. Making this into ANOTHER update for the game, adding those machines into it to add that thing as a mini-game with trophies and stuff to win and all. Anyone at CDPR read this?”

However, there is no denying that the pretty lights of Night City will still excite some fans, with Cyberpunk 2077‘s setting being one of the most beloved in gaming history. As such, another user called Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush “Road Rash 2077”, whilst another said, “Actually, this sounds like a day one play for me with the RE2 arcade game. If it ever comes to Dave and Busters.”

Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush may not be an official update for CD Projekt RED‘s RPG, but it is definitely the next best thing. Now all you can do is head to your nearest arcade to see if this iconic new release has made its way to you.
