Conor McGregor hints at eye-watering $200m deal to return to UFC and fight at the White House

Conor McGregor claims he has been offered a $200million package to take part in next year’s UFC event at the White House.

UFC CEO Dana White announced last month that a deal to stage a series of fights at the residence of US president Donald Trump on July 4 had been agreed, although details have remained a closely guarded secret ever since.

White is a personal friend of Trump with the event arranged as part of the celebrations to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

McGregor has not fought since losing to Dustin Poirier in July 2021 but the Irishman took to X this morning to claim he has been offered an eye-watering deal to fight in Washington.

He wrote: “$100million to fight at the White House along with 100 US ‘Golden Visas’ for myself and family and friends.

“I look very forward to entertaining the fighting world once again.

“A pleasure I never take for granted!”

A ‘Golden Visa’ enables those that can afford it to take up permanent residency in the US and costs a reported $1m.

White wants McGregor to headline White House event

McGregor is a former two-division UFC champion and remains one of its biggest stars despite his four-year absence from the octagon.

White stated earlier this month that the 37-year-old was the man he wanted to headline the White House event.

“Say what you will about Conor McGregor because people like to talk sh*t about that too, but he is that guy, and he’s always been that guy. I’ve been in the room. I’ve been on the phone,” said White.

“Lots of people like to talk tough publicly, but behind the scenes it’s a whole other ballgame. When the sh*t hits the fan, who’s really willing to go out, and Conor McGregor has always been that guy.”

McGregor says he has been working hard in a bid to regain top form.

He added on X today: “I have so much aggression built up that I must release.

“I will throw harder and more venomous than I have ever thrown before. I have been punching way incredibly harder in my most recent preparative efforts and I delight in the thought of doing it live again.

“My shots whistle through the air like rockets! It’s why, and how, I hold every fiscal record in the entire book of fighting. See you soon, kids!”

McGregor loses appeal

McGregor has hit the headlines for the wrong reasons this year.

In July his attempt to overturn a civil court ruling that found him liable for sexual assault was unsuccessful.

He was ruled liable in November 2024 by Ireland’s High Court in relation to an incident that took place in 2018.

The complainant alleged that McGregor assaulted her in a hotel room, and the jury sided with her, awarding damages of £206,000. McGregor appealed the decision earlier this year.

In July, however, the High Court dismissed his appeal in its entirety.
