Confirmed line-ups as Trent is dropped to the bench and Rice is absent

What was scheduled to be a potential title-decider now has different ramifications for Arsenal as they look to merely secure their place in next season’s Champions League.

Mikel Arteta’s men, who lost to Paris Saint-Germain in midweek to end their European adventure, have taken just one point from their last two league games and the gap to the chasing pack has trimmed considerably.

Taking something away from Anfield would represent a significant achievement with Liverpool having lost just once on home turf all season.

Arne Slot’s side won the league a fortnight ago with a 5-1 demolition of Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham and, have on paper, little to play for.

But they will want to end a brilliant season on a high.

Slot made six changes to the team that lost 3-1 at Chelsea last weekend.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, who this week announced he would be leaving Anfield at the end of the season, has to be content with a place on the bench with Conor Bradley coming in at right-back.

Jarell Quansah, Kostas Tsimikas, Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliott and Diogo Jota all drop out with Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz returning to the starting XI.

Liverpool: Alisson; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Jones, Szoboszlai; Salah, Gakpo, Diaz

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal suffered a major blow with midfielder Declan Rice ruled out due to injury.

Mikel Merino drops back from his false nine position to take Rice’s spot with Leandro Trossard coming into the attack.

The other change made by Mikel Arteta from the side that lost to PSG was the inclusion of Ben White at right-back in place of Jurrien Timber, who drops to the bench.

Arsenal: Raya; White, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly; Partey, Merino, Odegaard; Saka, Martinelli, Trossard
