As the highly-anticipated sophomore season gets underway, the latest news confirms that FUBAR season 2 began filming in May 2024. In a promotional stunt befitting the classic action movie hero, a video was shared on Netflix’s official Instagram account featuring the construction of a Guinness World Record-breaking action figure of star Arnold Schwarzenegger. The former California Governor appears in the video as well to announce to fans that production has gotten underway. Since then, little news has surfaced, but it is still promised to arrive in 2025.

The renewal comes after the show topped Netflix charts for two weeks, making it one of the biggest hits the streamer had in 2023. Another positive sign for FUBAR season 2 came when Schwarzenegger landed a perfect Netflix job as the streamer’s Chief Action Officer earlier in 2023. Though the role is purely ceremonial, it shows that the beloved action icon has bought into Netflix’s program, suggesting they have big plans for collaborations with the actor.
Filming began nearly a year after the first season debuted (in May 2024) but little news has surfaced in the many months since cameras started rolling. With another full year passing since the sophomore season went into production, it’s unclear exactly when Netflix hopes to deliver FUBAR season 2. However, the streamer maintains that the sophomore outing will debut at some point in 2025.

Unlike most action stories which focus primarily on the main plot, FUBAR season 1 wove a complicated web of interpersonal drama, and it mostly went unresolved after eight episodes. The finale established that the Brunner’s cover had been blown and that they were the targets of dangerous forces who wanted to wipe them out, and that will likely be the bulk of the story for FUBAR season 2. However, the FUBAR season 1 ending left at least two love triangles still to be figured out, and season 2 will have to grapple with those as well.
