Chelsea urged to land Nunez

Chelsea have been told to sign former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez during the summer transfer window.

The Blues have been heavily reliant on Joao Pedro upfront this campaign. He has proved his worth with 14 goals and eight assists in all competitions,

Still, the club could seek a new solution in the department, given Liam Delap and Marc Guiu have barely impressed during the ongoing campaign.

Former Chelsea star Marcel Desailly has now said that Chelsea should make an approach for Nunez during the next transfer window.

He said: “A club like Chelsea would be best for him. He needs to be surrounded by established, confident players who know they’re going to play every weekend and who will give him the ball on the first intention.”

Nunez signed for Al-Hilal from Liverpool last summer. He has registered nine goals and provided five assists from 24 appearances for them.

He was recently excluded from Al-Hilal’s Saudi Pro League squad to make space for Karim Benzema and looks poised to depart this summer.

It remains to be seen whether he returns to the Premier League. As things stand, Chelsea are not contemplating an offer for the Uruguayan.
