FX on Hulu’s smash-hit culinary dramedy The Bear has served up three amazing seasons thus far, and the network has already picked the series up for season 4. Created by Christopher Storer, The Bear concerns troubled chef Carmy (Jeremy Allen White), as he leaves the high-pressure world of upscale dining to take over the pressure cooker that is his family’s failing sandwich shop in Chicago. Noted for its hyperrealistic depiction of kitchen work, The Bear has grown increasingly suspenseful with each passing season without sacrificing any of the brilliant characters that make the show so beloved.
Naturally, The Bear has been a critical darling across all three seasons thus far, raking in a slew of major awards including Emmys and Golden Globes. Critical reactions to season 3 have been somewhat lackluster compared to the previous two, but the response is still overwhelmingly positive. Considerably less intense than its predecessor, the ending of The Bear season 3 leaves a lot on the table and employs a cliffhanger ending not seen in previous seasons. Fortunately for fans who are eagerly awaiting their next course of The Bear, FX on Hulu has already green-lit a fourth season.

The Bear Appears In Disney+’s Super Bowl Commercial
A few months after footage from The Bear season 4 was shown in Disney+’s 2025 trailer (a video which is now private), the latest news arrives in the form of Disney+’s 2025 Super Bowl commercial. The trailer largely focuses on the massive scope of Disney’s signature streaming service, and offers a sampling of footage from Hulu originals like Only Murders in the Building as well as Disney properties like Star Wars and Marvel. Carmy and Sydney make a brief appearance in a clip from an earlier season, but it’s clear that Disney considers The Bear a hot commodity.

production on seasons 3 and 4 is happened back to back, and FX on Hulu is trying to avoid any delays
In an age of social media and instant communication, it’s very difficult to keep anything a secret, especially a show as popular as The Bear. Though FX on Hulu hadn’t officially announced season 4 yet, local Chicago media outlets reported on the filming progress of new episodes long after season 3 wrapped. This means production on seasons 3 and 4 was happening back to back, and FX on Hulu was trying to avoid any delays so that the next season of The Bear can arrive on the show’s yearly timeline.
However, it was later revealed that only part of the 4th season was filmed at the same time as the 3rd, with star Jeremy Allen White revealing in August 2024 that filming for season 4 was not completed, and that he was not sure when it would re-start.
“I know it’s not going to be until [2025], I imagine sometime early next year, a similar start date to the last couple of years: February/March time.”

While that filming start hasn’t officially been confirmed, if it turns out to be correct, it tracks with the show’s typical production schedule which shoots in the early part of the year for a summer release. In October 2024, FX’s John Landgraf confirmed as much when he mentioned that six of season 4’s episodes were completed. This would mean that The Bear season 4 will likely release toward the end of June 2025.
The Bear season 3 premiered Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
The Bear Season 4 Cast
Will Carmy & Syd Return For Season 4?
Even though The Bear is known for its heart-pounding suspense and shocking twists and turns, the cast of the FX on Hulu dramedy has remained pretty consistent across all three seasons thus far. Considering the ending of season 3, it is almost a necessity that many if not all the stars return to reprise their roles, and no one was left in a very stable place. With that in mind, fans can expect to see Jeremy Allen White reprise his role as the troubled-but-brilliant chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto.
Though her place in “The Bear” is far from certain, Ayo Edebiri’s Sydney is also a must-have for season 4, as is Carmy’s “cousin”, Richard “Richie” Jerimovich, played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The rest of the kitchen staff is crucial as well, and they have each blossomed into fascinating characters across the three seasons with their own fascinating arcs that tie back to the fate of the restaurant. Major cameos like Olivia Colman are less certain, but the series has excelled at bringing in huge guest stars thus far.
The presumptive cast of The Bear season 4 includes:
Actor | The Bear Role | |
|---|---|---|

The Bear Season 4 Story Details
Will Sydney Leave “The Bear”?
Because the dramedy is known for its gut-wrenching tension, the finale of The Bear season 3 was anything but conclusive. Sydney was left to grapple with her emotions as she must decide whether to take an offer that would improve her career, or stay in the place where she has found a family. Meanwhile, the outcome of the review is still unknown, and “The Bear” risks losing its principal financer if Uncle Jimmy pulls his cash. Under all that is the complicated web of emotional entanglements, as nearly every potential outcome will have crucial consequences in The Bear season 4 and beyond.
Even if things work out, and the review is a positive one, that doesn’t mean the stress will end. As The Bear has shown time and again, running a successful restaurant is nearly impossible, and the pressure-cooker of Carmy’s life might not be able to handle the rigors of business ownership. Add on top of that the possibility of Sydney’s departure, and Carmy’s dream may be a hollow victory without the one person who has truly stuck by his side through thick and thin.
