Bloodborne Fans Devastated After Official PlayStation Announcement

Bloodborne fans have been holding on to hope for longer than they can even keep track anymore, and after a recent official PlayStation announcement, hope for a potential next-gen upgrade or even the faintest chance of a sequel has more or less disappeared.

While there’s been no indication that PS5 Bloodborne port or new game would receive an official reveal at the PlayStation State of Play earlier this week, that didn’t stop some fans from keeping their fingers crossed for a surprise announcement—only to be extremely disappointed when nothing of the sort transpired (via Reddit).

Bloodborne Fans Are Losing Hope

Bloodborne fans have had their fingers crossed for so long now, it’s amazing they can still hold onto a controller. The hopium always seems to kick into overdrive when a State of Play is announced, however, and PlayStation’s most recent event earlier this week was no exception. For no good reason in particular, Bloodborne fans really were hoping against all odds they’d get an official update.

Once the event ended with no mention of Bloodborne (or FromSoftware for that matter), it started to finally dawn on some fans that there may be no future for the franchise, with kevenzz saying it’s time to “get over [Bloodborne]” because “it’s never coming back.” Meanwhile, thetruelu says that Bloodborne players are “overhyping something that will never happen.”

Similarly, Majestic_Drop_8769 is feeling demoralized as well, saying their “Bloodborne copium supply is running low.” Morale is at an all-time low when it comes to Bloodborne, and the likelihood that an actual reboot of the IP happens is extremely low at this point. Still, there is a dedicated audience of players that will never give up hope entirely, and they insist on keeping the dream alive for Bloodborne‘s future.

Never Say Never

It’s hard to say what the chances are of Bloodborne getting a next-gen port, a remaster/remake, and especially a sequel in the form of Bloodborne 2, but everyone agrees the odds aren’t favorable. That said, Bloodborne is still very much alive thanks to an extremely active modding community and the hugely popular ShadPS4 emulator that allows fans to play with modern graphics and incredible fidelity.

While mum is still the word on any official Bloodborne projects in the works at FromSoft or Sony, the rumor mill and hype train for an announcement is bound to return in full force at the next State of Play, whenever that may be.
