Competition: National League
Market: Wealdstone win
Odds: 5/4 @ BetUS
Two camps who will be looking to make up some ground in the play-off chase, Wealdstone will welcome Tamworth to Middlesex on Wednesday night.
Starting with the hosts, claiming what was an essential boost over the weekend as they snatched a hard-fought 1-0 victory at home against Woking, Sam Cox’s men are desperately searching for some essential National League stability. Getting the New Year underway with a routine 2-0 loss away at Carlisle, the Middlesex-based outfit claimed just one-point from their five showdowns on either side of opening 2026. Likewise, the Stones have registered just a single win from any of their previous nine straight National League appearances – a run that stems back to a 1-0 victory against Braintree on November 8th. However, knowing that they can move within touching distance of the play-off places here, Cox’s side will be excited by their extended success at Grosvenor Vale. Including consecutive 1-0 victories against Woking and Dagenham & Redbridge, Wealdstone have won four of their last five matchups in front of their own supporters.
As for the visitors, while Tamworth might have opened the New Year with a 3-1 victory against relegation scrappers Gateshead, the Lambs find themselves in an almost identical position to Wednesday’s opponents. Missing out on what they had billed as a golden opportunity last weekend as they eventually had to settle for a 0-0 stalemate away at Truro, Andy Peaks’ men have also shown some rather worrying issues outside of Staffordshire. Hit with a woeful 7-1 drumming at the hands of Solihull Moors on Boxing Day, Tamworth have registered just one-point from any of their previous four National League matchups away from the Lamb Ground. Including a 3-1 defeat against Scunthorpe, the midweek guests have also claimed just a sole win on their travels since the middle of October. It should also be noted, Peaks’ side have shipped 17 goals in their last six showdowns on the road.
