The Duffer Brothers have revealed the runtime of Stranger Things’ season 5 finale and which of the show’s biggest mysteries will finally be resolved. The premiere of Stranger Things‘ fifth and final season is just a little over a month away, as Netflix and the show’s global fanbase prepare to say goodbye to one of the biggest pop culture hits of the 21st century.
The pressure riding on the Stranger Things finale is immense, as it needs to not only satisfactorily conclude the stories of a massive ensemble cast, but also provide an answer to one of the show’s biggest mysteries: what actually is the Upside Down? In an exclusive interview with Variety, the Duffer Brothers revealed that Stranger Things’ final episode will be “around two hours long” and will reveal the secrets of that terrifying parallel dimension.
“Every season would be like, ‘Should we talk about it?’ And we’d go, ‘No, let’s wait.’ And then finally, we’re like, ‘Well, we have to now!'” Ross Duffer said, speaking of the Upside Down’s looming threat. Presumably, the answers provided in season 5 will fit in well with the glimpses audiences saw of the Upside Down and Vecna’s (Jamie Campbell Bower) involvement in Stranger Things season 4.
