Atletico Madrid target Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez


Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Darwin Nunez from Liverpool in the summer transfer window, according to AS. Atletico manager Diego Simeone is keen on a deal for the Uruguay international striker, who has been availale for sale by Liverpool, who won the Premier League title last weekend.

According to AS, Liverpool are ready to sell Nunez for €40-€45 million (£34-£38.2 million). The Merseyside outfit are even ready to offer the striker out on loan with an option to buy, as long as the signing club pay his wages and an initial loan fee. The Reds have also identified potential replacements for Nunez, with Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak on their shortlist.

Nunez has been on the books of Liverpool since 2022 when he joined from Benfica. The 25-year-old striker has scored 40 goals and given 26 assists in 139 appearances for the Merseyside club so far in his career. Nunez has scored seven goals and made seven assists in 43 matches in all competitions for Liverpool this season.
