Whatever your opinion on Assassin’s Creed entering its RPG era, I think most of us can agree the game that kicked it all off is a clear high-point for the series. Assassin’s Creed Origins is one of Ubisoft’s very best games. It’s a perfect encapsulation of everything that makes a great Ubisoft game, with a rich open world to explore, and a fantastic main character driving the story forward.
Released back in 2017, this Ancient Egypt adventure takes place during the reign of Cleopatra, and follows Bayek of Siwa quest for revenge over the murder of his son. It remains an all-time great Assassin’s Creed installment, and many fans agree we should have had a direct sequel starring Bayek by now.
This Assassin’s Creed Origins “Remaster” Is A Thing Of Beauty
Bayek has never looked so beautiful
Assassin’s Creed Origins is still an impressive-looking game, but at nearly ten years old, I wouldn’t say no to a remaster that gives the RPG a new lick of paint. Heck, just look at this video from Digital Dreams, that showcases what Assassin’s Creed Origins can look like at 8K with every setting pushed to maximum with an RTX 5090. The result is a stunning, if unofficial, remaster of a great game.

As much as we love Assassin’s Creed Origins, the game definitely doesn’t seem to be part of Ubisoft’s immediate plans for the series. Assassin’s Creed Shadows recently celebrated its first Birthday with some free goodies and an update, and it looks like the long-rumored Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Rescynced will be the next game to release, which I’m definitely not more than okay with.
After that, it’ll likely be Assassin’s Creed Hexe, which will take players to 16th-century Germany during the Holy Roman Empire’s witch trials for an altogether darker game. This one could end up being one of the most unique Assassin’s Creed entries in years, so definitely keep an eye on it.
For now, then, it looks like an Assassin’s Creed Origins remaster, remake, or sequel is a long way off, if it ever comes. Having said that, in an age where remakes are becoming increasingly prevalent (and incredibly successful to boot), I wouldn’t rule such a project out completely. Watch this space.
