The ICC ruled the incident a Level 1 offence, issuing only a formal caution without financial penalty, while advising Yadav to avoid politically sensitive statements in the future.
BCCI counters with complaint against Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan
The narrative escalated further in the Super 4 clash on September 21, when the BCCI filed a complaint against Pakistan’s Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan for provocative gestures. Rauf mimicked the shooting down of an aircraft, widely interpreted as a nod to past military conflicts, while Farhan marked his half-century with a controversial gun-firing gesture using his bat.
Both players now face ICC disciplinary hearings to determine whether their celebrations breached the spirit of the game. Farhan has claimed his actions were spontaneous, while Rauf’s gestures remain under review.
