Asia Cup 2025: Haris Rauf’s wife adds fuel to the fire with her controversial post after India vs Pakistan clash

A fresh controversy has ignited following India’s commanding six-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4s. Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf’s on-field provocations and his wife, Muzna Masood Malik’s, controversial social media post have both come under intense scrutiny. The incident, which has stirred significant debate, began with Rauf’s gestures during the game and was further inflamed by a provocative post shared by his wife after the match.

Haris Rauf’s provocative gestures spark tensions during IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2025 match

The match in Dubai saw heightened emotions, with Rauf visibly engaging in provocative gestures. While fielding near the boundary rope, Rauf made a hand gesture that appeared to depict a plane ‘drowning,’ followed by the notorious ‘6-0’ gesture using his fingers. These actions were widely interpreted as a mocking response to India and their supporters, especially in the context of the long-standing rivalry between the two teams.

The ‘6-0’ gesture, it is believed, refers to Pakistan’s controversial and unverified claim of shooting down six Indian fighter jets during a military confrontation in the past. The gesture, combined with Rauf’s interactions with Indian batters, including Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma, only added fuel to the already fiery atmosphere.

The tension was palpable throughout the match, with verbal exchanges between Rauf, Shaheen Afridi, and the Indian openers, who were keen to stay focused amid the provocation. While the match progressed, Pakistan’s fiery approach on the field was matched by their lack of discipline, and India maintained composure to clinch a comfortable victory.

A controversial move by Haris’ wife Muzna Masood Malik that stoked the fire

The post-match drama escalated off the field when Rauf’s wife, Muzna Masood Malik, shared a story on Instagram that featured a picture of Rauf performing the “6-0” hand gesture. The post was accompanied by a caption that read: “Lost the match but won the battle,”

This post quickly went viral and sparked a wave of backlash from both the cricketing community and fans. Fans condemned the gesture as unsporting and divisive, accusing Rauf’s wife of trying to politicize the game and undermine the spirit of cricket. The act was seen as a clear breach of sportsmanship, further fueling the fire between the two teams and creating a storm in the cricket world.

Amidst all the off-field controversy, India’s performance on the field was clinical and commanding. Despite Pakistan’s theatrics, India’s chase of 172 was never in doubt. The opening partnership between Abhishek Sharma (74 runs off 39 balls) and Shubman Gill (47 runs) set the tone for India’s run chase, as the duo produced an explosive 105-run stand.  India, maintaining their composure, surged ahead to complete the chase with seven balls to spare.

The victory not only kept India’s unbeaten streak alive in the tournament but also highlighted their dominance over Pakistan in this Super 4 encounter. For Pakistan, the match was another disappointing result, and Rauf’s off-field actions seemed to overshadow what had been an otherwise decent performance.
