Apple TV Is Releasing The Perfect Follow-Up To A 10/10 Sci-Fi Series 9 Years Later

Nine years after a 10/10 science-fiction series ended, Apple TV is releasing the perfect follow-up show. Between Silo, Severance, Dark Matter, For All Mankind, Foundation, Murderbot, and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Apple TV is the undisputed king of science-fiction television.

With Silo season 3 and more seasons for all the aforementioned shows on the way, Apple TV has committed to the longevity of these stories, further cementing themselves as the best streamer for the genre. While they are not home to one of the all-time best science-fiction shows, they are releasing a new series in 2026 that is a perfect successor.

One of the best science-fiction shows of all time is Orphan Black. Tatiana Maslany plays 17 clones in the series, beginning with Sarah Manning, who works to protect her family and unravel the conspiracy surrounding the clones. Sarah’s clone sisters include the suburban mother Alison Hendrix, the free-spirited scientist Cosima Niehaus, the relentless Helena, and the power-hungry Rachel Duncan.

Maslany delivers a masterclass performance as she makes each clone feel distinct and compelling, and scenes where the clones are only interacting with one another feel natural to watch. Her acting is only part of what makes the series great, though, as there are many shocking and earned plot twists that make the show unpredictable and rewarding, and there are riveting characters in addition to the clones, such as Mrs. S (Maria Doyle Kennedy) and Felix Dawkins (Jordan Gavaris). Thematically, there is an in-depth exploration of identity, free will, bodily autonomy, and the role of morality in scientific innovations.

Orphan Black ended in 2017 with a satisfying conclusion after airing for five seasons on BBC America and Space in Canada (now the CTV Sci-Fi Channel). The story later continued in the podcast series Orphan Black: Next Chapter, narrated by Maslany, and there is a spinoff, Orphan Black: Echoes, but it was canceled after one season. Now, Apple TV has an ideal new series on the way for fans of the franchise.

Apple TV’s Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed Is The Perfect Orphan Black Follow-Up

Apple TV’s Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed is an upcoming dark comedy thriller in which Maslany plays Paula, a recently divorced mother who “falls down a dangerous rabbit hole of blackmail, murder and youth soccer” per the official synopsis. As she navigates an identity crisis and custody battle, she launches her own investigation into a crime she witnessed, which leads her to uncover a far larger conspiracy.

Beyond the fact that the series features Maslany, it’s a perfect follow-up to Orphan Black because of the parallels to Alison. Like Paula, she is a suburban mother who finds herself thrust into a world of murder, blackmail, and unraveling a conspiracy as she raises her children and has an identity crisis. From brutally interrogating her husband in the basement during a neighborhood potluck to subtly selling drugs during her school trustee campaign, Alison has her fair share of darkly comedic moments, all of which Maslany portrays perfectly.

As such, Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed is a must-watch for Orphan Black fans, especially those who enjoyed Alison and her chaotic storylines. In addition to Maslany, the cast of the new show includes Jake Johnson, Brandon Flynn, and Murray Bartlett. The two-episode premiere comes to Apple TV on May 20, followed by the 10-episode season continuing weekly through July 15. Each episode will be a half-hour long, making it shorter than the roughly 43-45 minute episodes of Orphan Black.
